About the festival... The festival is held at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on the campus of the University of Wales on the mid-Wales coast. Since it began in 1987 the three-day festival has grown to become the UK's leading ceramics event. It offers teachers, students, ceramic artists, collectors, working potters and amateurs the chance to meet and study the work of distinguished, internationally known potters and ceramicists from Wales, the UK and around the world . The Festival attracts about 800 people who attend lectures, watch practical demonstrations and visit our special exhibitions over three days. Over the years the Festival has built up a reputation for featuring some of the world's best known ceramic artists and potters and 2009 will be no exception. The focus is both practical and inspirational - kilns are built, pots are made and fired. Our international demonstrators show skills and techniques on our specially adapted stage and also have their own workspaces - enabling personal discussion about their work. During the festival there are also selling exhibitions, bookstands and a comprehensive display of products from pottery equipment manufacturers and suppliers. The aim is to make our weekend event as relaxed and accessible as possible. The festival is organised jointly by North Wales Potters, South Wales Potters and the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Festival Programme... On Friday evening the festival progamme 'comes alive' when the invited demonstrators explain what they will be doing during the weekend. Saturday and Sunday is filled with demonstrations, lectures, seminars, slideshows and films. At the same time a programme of kiln building and firings, demonstrations and events take place in adjacent outdoor areas. A provisional timetable for the weekend's activities will be available later. How to find the festival How to apply for trade stand spaces
