The HEP is a cost-effective, foil-based module made of high temperature materials throughout. It can be configured for heat exchange or catalytic reactor applications with an upper use temperature of 900°C. The key advantages are the simple yet effective fabrication methods, the light weight, adaptability to space constraints, scalability from 500 W to 50 kW, and the use of various foil inserts for adapting the HEP to customer requirements without reformatting the basic platform. Additionally, by using catalyst coated inserts the HEP can be used for combined heat transfer/catalysis applications in all types of fuel cells.
Materials Development for SOFC, Catalysts, and other High Temperature Products
The Probostat™ high temperature electrochemical test fixture is ideal for SOFC and much more, including surface and bulk conductivity, high performance AC impedance, and Seebeck thermoelectric effect. Benefits of the device include user-friendly sample mounting, electrical connection and sealing along with the ability to control gas atmospheres on both sides of SOFC disks and other membranes. Stack Engineering
Of course cell materials are only one part of the equation. Connecting cells to each other requires understanding of seals, interconnect materials and schemes and the effects of fuel and air on the cells in situ. The 28 cm2 test fixture offers a solid, yet cost-effective step-up from the button cell size test. Designed with flow patterns to ensure constant flow across the width of the sample, and a large landing face for sealing cells, you can rely upon the fixture for reproducible sample mounting and operating conditions. The main body of the fixture is fabricated from Crofer22APU, one of the most reliable high temperature steels for SOFC operations. Completing the 28cm2 test fixture kit are the operations (seal) kit and re-usable interconnection kit, both of which are available for separate purchase.
