Ceratech India Ltd (CTIL) on realizing the excellent prospects offered in high technology product like Alumina Ceramic, which has become an indispensable item for mass-manufacturing concept being adopted by large industrial plants, is setting up a project for the manufacture of technologically advanced Alumina Ceramics in the state of Orissa, known for its rich mineral deposits.

The plant with an annual capacity of 18,000 tons, is envisaged to be located near Rourekela with a capital outlay of USD 25.5 million. The location of the project is ideal as it offers proximity to raw material sources, potential markets and offers a conducive industrial environment. Geographical concentration and future expansion is concentric in Eastern India providing major location advantage.

Initially CTIL plans to manufacture a varied product mix of Thermally Reactive Alumina encompassing high tech ceramics like :

- Sintered Alumina Tiles
- Ceramic Grinding Media & Mill liners (Alumina steatite and Zirconia)
- Technical ceramics
- Ceramic Rollers and pyrometric Sheaths
- Ancillary products
- Super refractories (Mullite, cordierite, sintered alumina)
- Refractory intermediates (Mullite, Zirconia Mullite, Sintered Alumina
   grains etc.)

These products find wide use in various sectors like

- Power Generation
- Steel Plants & Sponge Iron Plants
- Fertilizer Industry
- Cement Industry
- Ceramic and Refractories

The product mix essentially caters to 'mass/bulk production industry' e.g. steel, cement, fertilizer - processes are automated with high performing material and intricate engineering requirement - that requires minimum downtime. All these should be at highly competitive costs.

CTIL would also have a state-of-the art R&D facilities and would introduce more products derived out of its R&D initiatives.
