Elkem products of interest in the advanced ceramics field are generally the Silgrain line of silicon powders. Microsilica, amorphous SiO2, is also available.
Silicon powder is often used as a raw material for manufacturing silicon nitride and silicon carbide ceramics.
Basic Silgrain products are:
- Silgrain HQ - 99.7% Si - 0.2-0.8mm particle size
- Silgrain-coarse - 99.5% Si - 0.2-0.8mm particle size
- Silgrain-fine - 99.3% Si - 0-425 micron particle size
Silgrain can be jet-milled at the production plant to a wide range of particle sizes and purity levels. Jet-milled products are available with purity from 97.8 to 99.7% Si and down to 0-10 micron particle size.
Silgrain with low conductivity (max. 9) and pH (max. 6) can be delivered.
Data sheets and size curves with typical values on D10, D50 and D90 for jet-milled products will be sent upon request.
