The main objective of The Potters' Association of Namibia shall be primarily to foster the art and craft of pottery and ceramics in every way; to encourage the development, recognition, appreciation of such pottery and ceramics; including holding exhibitions; publishing regular newsletters; and distributing related magazines.

Furthermore, providing workshops and technical information and skills development; arranging and encouraging social interaction, and thereby supporting the interest of like-minded persons.

In 1986 a small group of enthusiastic potters, under the guidance of the late Doreen Hildenhagen, regularly got together, learning about clay. This Association was formalised in February 1987.
