International Ceramics Festival
The International Ceramics Festival, held in Aberystwyth, Mid Wales, is the UK's leading ceramics event, attracting over 800 participants. It offers a unique opportunity for teachers, students, ceramic artists, collectors and amateurs to meet and study the work of distinguished, internationally-known craftspeople.
Past demonstrators have included Ken Matsuzaki (Japan), Warren Mackenzie (USA), Fred Olsen (USA), Angeline Houtchonou and Veronique Bambigbola (West Africa) and Gustavo Perez (Mexico).The Festival weekend includes demonstrations, lectures, firings, slideshows, trade stands, selling exhibtions etc.
The programme starts on Friday evening with introductions to all the demonstrators. Saturday and Sunday are filled with demonstrations, lectures, seminars, slideshows and films. At the same time a programme of kiln building and firings take place in the adjacent areas.The International Ceramics Festival is held at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Aberystwyth University, Wales UK and is organised by Aberystwyth Arts Centre, North Wales Potters and South Wales Potters.
