Thermal Ceramics has recently developed the first low bio-persistent insulation fibre with a classification temperature up to 1300°C, Superwool 607 HT. The fibre - which has been developed for high temperature applications in iron and steel, ceramics, glass, incineration, aluminium production and heating boilers - is said to offer lower shrinkage than comparable insulation fibres. This eliminates gaps or hot spots in furnace linings, reducing costs associated with maintenance and replacement material.

Superwool 607 HT is exonerated from carcinogen classification under the provisions of the EU Directive 67/548/EEC. The new product is a high temperature insulating wool composed of man-made silicate fibres.
