Mantra makes hand made wheel thrown stoneware pottery and also some slip cast work in the same field. Most of the production is functional tableware and useful decorative objects for the home and for ambience.

Mantra also makes ultra thin lustre tiles and even lustre glazed pots for decorative use along with trays and coasters and framed mirrors and other interesting objects. The trays and coasters are maed usinbg cane and marine plywood and are finished in a natural look. The ultra thin tiles give them a light weight and they are very practical and functional as well as decorative.

The stoneware glazes are basic reduction type and are fired at 1300 deg C in one of our gas kilns. These use the latest in Hi tech refractories and are specially designed to fire plates and other flat ware. We also have wood fired kilns and use these occasionally, though a lot less than before when we started.

Mantra employs local people and trains them in many skills including decoration and encourages their creativity and sense of self respect. The workers enjoy all the benefits afforded by a modern economy such as a Provident Fund and a Pension Fund as well as Insurance. They are a very imprtant part of the whole enterprise.
