Industrial Ceramic Technology, Inc (ICT) manufactures ceramic based composites (CRYSTALOY), both oxide and non-oxide, which are typically reinforced with ceramic, single crystal, whiskers.
The use of ceramic whiskers provides improved strength, toughness, durability, and wear resistance at room and elevated temperatures. ICT specializes in a patented electrically-conductive ceramic composite which may be EDM'd (electrical discharge machined) at tool steel speeds. producing complex/fine shapes and surface finishes less than 4 micro-inch.
Applications include dies and tools for shaped -metal extrusions, metal forming and deep drawing of nickel- based alloys and stainless steels, cutting tools for metal removal, and various wear parts such as band-saw guides operating at speeds up to 12,000 surface feet per minute.
CRYSTALOY properties allow for laser cutting , cost-effectively, up to about 0.40 inch(10 mm).
