Ceramics On The Go

100% handcrafted ceramics. We make ceramics candle shades and electric tart warmers. Our candle shades come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They range from small, medium and large.
The shapes include lace style, scalloped style and plain style.

We also have matching bases to go with each type shade. Every product begins from ceramics slip, which is in the form of a liquid mud type substance. The slip is poured into a vat where it is stirred and then poured into individual molds. The process continues by allowing the molds to set up for an hour.

After the molds have set to the proper thickness they are then poured out back into the vat. The molds will remain upside down for an average of 24 hours. After the 24-hour initial drying is done, each mold is disassembled and the trim process begins.

Each piece is then trimmed of excess and put on a shelf to continue the drying process. After an average of 36 hours has passes and the pieces are dried, they are then taken and cleaned with water and a sponge.

After the first firing process is done then each piece is hand dipped into the glazing liquid, then set aside to dry and finish with a touch up to ensure all of the appropriate areas are covered with glaze. Each piece goes back into the kiln for the glaze firing process; this firing is at 1500 degrees for an average of 8 hours.
