John Baymore at River Bend Pottery
A studio artist producing fine handcrafted wood-fired ceramics strongly influenced by the Japanese aesthetic. He's been featured in national and international exhibitions as well as in books, magazines and on TV.
John was the recipient of the "Judge's Special Prize" in the 1996 Mashiko, Japan Ceramics Competition, was an invited presenter at the Aomori, Japan Internatioanl Wood Fire Festival in 2002, an invited artist-in-residence at Kanayama, Japan in 2004 and 2006, and a guest lecturer at Tokyo National Univerisity of Art and Music in 2004.
John has taught part time at Massachusetts College of Art, Boston University's Program in Artisanry, and the Danforth Museum School. Currently adjunct faculty member at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, John is a specialist in the design and construction of fuel buring kilns for potters and institutions. He has been consulting on and building kilns professionally since 1975.
In addition to selling his claywork, John conducts workshops and lectures on ceramics. He has been a presenter at venues ranging from the Harvard University Ceramics program to multiple presentations given at annual conferences of the National Council on Educatrion for the Ceramic Arts.
