Art tile by Jerusalem Pottery
An Armenian family in Jerusalem has been producing Armenian hand painted ceramic tiles and pottery since 1922. In 1922, a group of craftsmen were invited to Jerusalem from Kutahya Turkey, to renovate the tiles of the Dome of the Rock. Among them was my grandfather, Megerditch Karakashian, who stayed on in Jerusalem to continue making ceramic wares. Today, 3 generations later, we still make Armenain ceramics and Armenian tile using the same traditional methods, all made in our studio in Jerusalem.
