NZ Potters is the only national organization representing over 400 individual ceramic artists and affiliated pottery groups throughout New Zealand. The society organizes a national exhibition and conference each year usually in April.

Registered as an incorporated society in 1965 by an enthusiastic group of potters in Wellington, New Zealand, the NZ Potters has grown to some four hundred members.

The affiliation of about three dozen independent pottery societies throughout New Zealand greatly increases the effective membership NZP.

Regular activities open to all members include:

* the annual Convention and National Exhibition
* the annual Royal Easter Show Exhibition held in Auckland, and
* the biennial Ballantynes Tableware Exhibition held in Christchurch.
