Tácito Fernandes has always undertaken the career of art director, working primarily with graphic design in large firms in S?o Paulo, Brazil. After years dedicated to studying and researching clay in important training centers in S?o Paulo, and to participating in workshops in Brazil and other countries, the artist decided to search for a place that would harmonize work with quality of life.

For this reason he traveled to various regions of Brazil until finding Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina State, the place he was seeking to set up his atelier. The artisan gives precedence to the modeling of slabs, creating his works by means of precise cuts, in which the different pieces are joined to form works where harmony, dynamics and movement are transformed into unique objects, since each work is produced only once.

Years dedicated to design and the influence of an urban cosmopolitan viewpoint are evident in his craft, where design and functionality combine to create sophisticated and creative works of art. The artist uses various types of clay, making diversity another distinguishing characteristic of his work. The enamels are also developed in his studio where the artisan is always researching new colors and textures, and developing exclusive formulas for his pottery.

After each piece has been modeled and burned at low temperature, it receives a bath of enamel and is returned to the oven for the final burning at 1300 degrees centigrade, at which point fire joins with the artist?s creativity to glaze the pieces, giving them color, radiance and beauty in a thousand year-old alchemy that charms and surprises at each firing.
