Atelier do antigo matadouro is a ceramic studio in Cunha, Brazil owned by architect-potter-designer alberto cidraes. it operates a noborigama type of wood fired kiln. Cidraes, a Portuguese national divided his living career in ceramics between Portugal, Japan and Brazil.

He produces unique objects, engobed, sgraffited and unglazed using clay from the area where he lives, processed in the studio. he fires in cone 11 taking advantage of random fire patterns. his themes are mainly the human head and sound producing instruments.

Cidraes was the founder of a group that originated cunha ceramics in 1975, considered to be the most important center of authored ceramics in brazil. the 16 studios existing today are gathered in a ceramics association.
