Mountainbird Pottery

Mountainbird's work reflects the love put into it and gives an inkling of the beauty of all Creation. Inspiration comes from all the places I have visited and lived: sky islands and deserts of Arizona; forests and foothills, mountains and shores of Massachusetts and North Carolina; tiny tropical islands of Kosrae and Guam; and the people and lands of El Salvador and Thailand.

Created by Mountainbird are functional and sculptural pieces. A handcrafted stoneware or porcelain vessel can make an everyday experience into a celebration. Featured are dinnerware and vases, angels and miniature pitchers as well as tablets with ancient scripture.

The vase is my favorite form, perhaps because I love flowers and plants so much. Nothing enhances a bouquet like a stoneware or porcelain pot handcrafted with vision and care.

I enjoy praising God through creative work and this spirituality is subtle or overt depending on the piece and intent.

Though a novice at sculpture, I enjoy sculpted animals and figures like babies in the formative state. Mostly I add sculptural attachments to wheel-thrown or handcrafted pieces.

It is my desire that holding a Mountainbird vessel will somehow allow you to experience the balance, healing and prayer inherent in the process of creating each piece.
