Bill Boyd Ceramics
Bill Boyd began his pottery career in 1970 in Sweden where he attended art school. Over time, the influences of Scandinavia have melded with an Asian aesthetic bringing Boyd to his signature work and favored forms highlighted by clean lines and classic simplicity. His traditional forms have recently been the playground for explorations in the bold technique of crystal glazes.
This challenging, relatively new glazing process involves growing zinc-silicate crystals in the glaze at high temperatures. He revels in the surprises and luminous mysteries of crystal glazes producing exquisite bowls, platters, and large lidded vessels. Boyd?s pots radiate the exuberant best of the new traditions in modern ceramics, a category he refers to with a smile as ?nouveau-classique?.
