James is a self-taught potter with a background in elementary and middle-school education. It has taken 8 years for James and his wife, Shannon, to see their dream fulfilled of owning a potter's studio gallery in Gladstone, Michigan, James' hometown. James' skills and understanding of clay and glazes has evolved during the past 8 years.

He feels very confident producing with the warm, earthy speckled clay and commercial food-safe glazes that he uses. The most common question heard in James' studio is, 'Can you make?'

His response comes in the form of new designs for his functional pieces of pottery. He requests a few weeks to complete a custom order.
