Myrtle's Menagerie
I have a small ceramic studio in Downtown Rensselaer, Indiana. I teach classes and sell greenware as well as finished pieces. My students range in age from second graders thru senior citizens. (Some classes are louder than others.)
I got the ceramics bug many, many years ago through an old family friend. She had gone to an auction and purchased a kiln and a few molds. She knew I enjoyed "crafting" and talked me into taking a class or two with her.
I wanted to do red glazed apples and was told that they were to hard to do, paint them instead. That was when I went thru Duncan teacher certification the first time. (You can do red apples, they just take a little time.)
Since then I have gone thru teacher certification again, as well as taking numerous classes thru different Duncan ambassadors. I have also taken classes thru the now defunct Donas mold company and a few classes with Doc Holiday.
I truly enjoy sharing the love of ceramics and how each person can make a piece their own creation thru the use of color and different painting techniques.
If you are in the area please stop by to chat and visit with me and my cat. I will be happy to show you my bowl of red apples!
P.S. Almost every year one of my students exhibit a red glaze at our county fair!! You have to spread the knowledge.
